Open-Source (D)igital (I)nteractive (T)extbook

A D.I.T. is an open-source textbook available digitally over the web.

The information presented is a comprisal of links, videos, simulations and other interactive learning experiences.

Pages/topics are relevant, crucial and thought-provoking. Designed to pique curiosity, motivating even the most astute of learners.

The contents of these web pages are filled with information found freely available to the public via the internet.

A répertoire of public knowledge.

(There’s) no such thing as a ‘stupid question’

It could be a question that needs to be thought out more. The path to knowledge isn’t direct. It includes some failures.

Do yourself a service and ask the question rather than pretending you know the answer.

Ship of Theseus

Consider this: At what point does an object or fact remain ‘original’ after it has been reconstructed with new properties, restored properties or new facts.

At what point is identity lost if there is even a definitive identity at all?

“Beginners Mind”

One must remain open to learning, forever full of questions. When you stop seeking answers to your questions, your path will be limited by those answers.

“In the beginner’s mind there are many possibilities, in the expert’s mind there are few.”
Shunryu Suzuki

Our Favourite Contributors to Society

Need inspiration, ideas or motivation? You may know who these people are…but do you know about them?

One of the most influential people of modern times. From the theory of relativity to the theories of life itself. Einstein had his hand in publishing over 450 scientific and non-scientific papers. Truly a dreamer whose contribution to society was not limited to a single field of exploration and thought. A true tributary to the capability of humans and our skills, skills that are discoverable within all of us.

“I have no special talents, I am only passionately curious”

-Albert Einstein-

It’s in the darkest places that the lord does his best work. When considering the situations Chance has faced and the environment in which he grew up. His story is truly that of inspiration and almost a true ‘miracle’ in the truest sense of the word. The extension of your soul into the work that you do will always lead to the utmost respectable outcome.

‘The Man Who Has Everything’

That baby is a genius
Don’t teach him ’bout Santa ’til you teach him ’bout Jesus
Don’t take him out the snow to try to take him on beaches
I swear it’s enough leisure in this world to get lost

-Chance The Rapper

Nick Szabo- Computer Scientist, Legal Scholar and a Prestigious Thinker. Known for his intellect and contribution to systems thinking, philosophy and ideas. He is also known for coining the term ‘Smart Contracts.’

“I call these new contracts “smart” because they are far more functional than their inanimate paper-based ancestors. No use of artificial intelligence is implied. A smart contract is a set of promises, specified in digital form, including protocols within which the parties perform on these promises.”

-Nick Szabo-

A category on this website is dedicated to the anonymous creator of Bitcoin under the pseudonym ‘Satoshi Nakamoto’. This is highly intentional with a lot of meaning behind it.

After careful consideration and extensive research Nakanomics was chosen.
Naka meaning middle in Kanji. Nomics(nomo) meaning laws in Greek. The creation of Bitcoin and the underlying ‘blockchain’ technology created a paradigm shift. It may not be a quick change but it’s a change. Cryptocurrency and blockchain technology have the power to regulate industries with precision on a absolute massive scale. It is a very complex system to understand in terms of growth. We have never had distribution capabilites with this efficiency ever.

Think about it this way:

We still live in groups, like tribes of old. Except we live with more luxuries and comfort.
If we have been living this way for thousands of years it’s safe to say we don’t change in that way. We may not be evolving physically, however we are rapidly evolving our tools and our ability to adapt to our surroundings.

Through time cities evolved from the ancient structure of our tribes.  Trade & communication is how we got this far, communicating and trading knowledge, goods, services, skills etc.

Through time money eventually became the ultimate form of trade. Money can be exchanged for everything because we have communicated to each other enough and agree with its common use and value. Similar to the evolution of our tribes, time has determined how or what we trade.

The internet is the most recent evolution of our communication channels.
Cryptocurrency and blockchain technology is the next step in the evolution of trade and communication. Without Satoshi Nakamoto’s innovation that would not be possible.

July 29th 2010;

“If you don’t believe me or don’t get it, I don’t have time to try to convince you, sorry.”

-Satoshi Nakamoto-
